Timeless Dining Spaces

The table at the centre of the home, and how to choose one that lasts.

From the BlackGrain Journal

The Table at the Centre.

A dining table is the one piece of furniture everyone gathers around. Its size, height and edge shape decide how a room feels long before the food arrives.

Allow around 60 cm of table edge per person and at least 90 cm of clear space behind each chair. A solid top with a softened edge invites people to lean in and stay.

Rosewood gives a table drama and depth; teak brings warmth and calm. Both are made to be lived with, scratches and all.
